FAQs

More about process-led tarot and what to expect during a reading.

What happens in a reading?

In a typical reading, you’ll come ready with a question about something in your life. We’ll pull tarot cards (i.e. choose them blindly from the deck) and arrange them in a spread (i.e. an intentional layout). I’ll then use the cards to reflect clarifying questions back to you about your initial query—that’s the “process-led” part. We’ll continue in this dynamic conversation—guided by the cards throughout—to lead us toward an understanding of what comes next for you.

How should I prepare for a reading?

Please come prepared with an open-ended, detailed question you'd like to process. For example, "What should I consider as I look to buy a 3-bedroom house in Highland Park in July?" vs. "Should I buy a house?" We’ll spend a few minutes at the start of reading workshopping this question, so don’t worry too much about it being perfect.

I'll be providing lots of prompts and thought-starters from the cards, so folks find it helpful to have a notebook handy during sessions.

And be sure to join me from a private, quiet space where you won't be interrupted.

What is “process-led” tarot?

Because I’m not a psychic, and because I’m very intentional about these readings occurring as a collaboration between us, I will not tell you your future and nor will I tell you exactly what to do. Instead, we’ll have a conversation, utilizing the cards as prompts for further introspection and reflection. The experience is a process, one that’s led organically by us and by the cards.

Are you a professional tarot reader?

Unlike, say, a therapist or even a yoga teacher, there isn’t a national set of standards for tarot readers or official certificates. However, I do have training: six years ago, I completed tarot coursework with Sage Sansone in Asheville, NC and have conducted hundreds of hours of readings since.

I want to do this all the time! Can we talk more often?

Yes! I selfishly always wonder what happens after a reading, so let’s keep the conversation going. I offer packages of three readings at a discount so we can talk quarterly, monthly, etc.

I’m intrigued, but I still have questions.

I get it, this is unchartered territory for most folks so please reach out here with any additional thoughts or questions.
